Welcome to the re-creation of a time and place that is uniquely American. Goldfield is nestled between the Goldfield Mountains and the Superstition Mountains you see in the distance. Back in its heyday, an estimated three million dollars worth of gold put this boomtown on the map. And the Legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine lured many miners for miles. Through the 1890s, prospectors poked around 'till Goldfield's gold vein collapsed in 1897. After less than half a decade this once booming gold-mining town dwindled down to a ghost town, but it was destined to boom again. About a hundred years later, this willful whistle-stop, located on the historic Apache Junction Trail became an authentic Old West attraction where you can wander, shop, watch a gunfight reenactment or take a ride on the only narrow gauge train still operating in Arizona. When you're here, you can practically see gunslingers and gamblers gathered 'round card tables in saloons while women in corsets and petticoats stroll about under lacy parasols. Revived to re-create the way the west was, this picture-perfect place is a real treat for treasure-hunters and history buffs alike.
